About GaraAfrica

GaraAfrica is the Africa Chapter of the Global African Swine Fever Research Alliance (GARA). We provide a continental platform for coordinated research, knowledge sharing and capacity building to address African Swine Fever and other priority swine diseases.

• Mission: To contextualize GARA's global objectives to Africa, supporting ASF prevention, control and elimination in line with WOAH standards.
• Vision: To be part of the coordinated global research alliance enabling the progressive control and eradication of ASF.
• Approach: Working closely with governments, research institutions, regional and international organizations to support evidence-based decision making.

We aim to foster a collaborative environment where African researchers and policymakers can work together to tackle the challenges posed by ASF, ensuring sustainable pig production and food security across the continent.
